Description
Glass to Glass Hinge
Glass to glass hinges are specialized hardware components designed to connect a swinging glass door directly to a fixed glass panel without the need for a metal frame. They are most commonly used in frameless glass shower enclosures, retail display cases, and modern office partitions to maintain a seamless, “all-glass” aesthetic.
Common Types by Angle and Function
Hinges are selected primarily based on the angle at which the two glass panels meet and the desired closing mechanism.
- 180-Degree (Straight) Hinges: Used to connect a door to a fixed panel in a straight line, allowing the door to swing open from the plane of the fixed glass.
- 90-Degree (Corner) Hinges: Designed for corner installations where the door and the fixed panel meet at a right angle.
- 135-Degree (Neo-Angle) Hinges: Ideal for hexagonal or “neo-angle” shower enclosures where panels meet at a 135-degree angle.
- Self-Closing and Gravity Hinges: Feature internal mechanisms—either hydraulic or gravity-based—that automatically pull the door shut when it reaches a certain angle (often around 70° to 140°) to ensure a secure seal.
